The practical side of the courses are held on our certified boats, which are based in the harbour of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. Our fleet of certified sailing boats consists of an Elan Impression 45 and an Elan Performance 37. Our motorboat fleet includes a Rodman Fly 870 and a Vanguard DR560.
Radio training are carried out on approved simulators in our classroom in Vigo.
The rental of our boats is responsible for the payment of any fines, sanctions or penalties that may be imposed for breaches of the law.
If Sailway is unable to deliver the rented boat on the first day of the agreed charter period due to unforeseeable and unavoidable circumstances such as theft, accident or irreparable breakdown, the customer will be informed immediately. Sailway will inform the customer of the date when the reserved boat will be available again.
The customer will have three options to choose from:
(a) The customer may maintain the final date of the reservation, minus the days during which the boat is unavailable.
(b) The customer may start the trip with another Sailway boat, replacing the reserved one, subject to availability.
(c) The customer may cancel the trip.
In each of these cases, Sailway will refund the customer within 72 hours.
If the customer chooses to reduce the charter period or start with a replacement boat, Sailway will refund the full amount of the days not used. If the price per day of the replacement boat is lower than the price paid by the customer at the time of booking, the difference will be refunded to the customer. However, if the price per day of the replacement boat is higher than the original booking, the customer will have to pay the difference.
If the customer chooses to cancel their trip, Sailway will refund the full amount of the days not used.
The customer should be aware that these situations, also known as “force majeure”, are unpredictable and unavoidable. They do not entitle the customer to any compensation from Sailway beyond the alternatives offered above, where possible, and the reimbursement of the sums due.
Please note that pets are not covered under our insurance so you will have to organise your own. Pets are not allowed on board unless you are chartering for a private group. It is also necessary to inform the Sailway office and we will let you know if you can bring your pet or not.
Taking children on board a boat during your holidays can be a fantastic experience, but keep in mind that a child counts as a passenger. Safety on board is very important, so let us know how many children will be on board, and their height and weight so we can provide suitable life jackets at no extra cost. It is important that you show them how to use the WC correctly and how to move around the boat safely.
In the event of an accident, it is essential that you call the telephone number provided by Sailway at check-in immediately to report the incident so that we can assist you. If your are in danger, make a distress call on channel 16 VHF and explain the situation you are in, or issue an alert on channel 70 VHF or frequency 2.187 kHz on LSD. There are also emergency telephone numbers – 112 or 900 202 202.
If weather conditions allows, hoist the sail and sail to the nearest port. Please call the telephone number provided by Sailway at check-in. It is essential that you record your position on the GPS and inform us so that we can send a rescue boat if necessary.
No, the ship is equipped with a shore power plug.
Yes, with considerable differences in tidal range so be sure to take them into account when anchoring at the beaches or entering certain ports.
Journey times vary depending on the type of boat you hire. To get to the Cies Islands by sailboat takes approximately 2 hours, or 30 – 60 minutes by motorboat, depending on the horsepower and how much you want to spend on fuel. Travelling to the Ons Islands takes approximately 4 hours by sailboat, or between 1 hour and 1.5 hours by motorboat.
If you anchor or stop in front of any of the beaches, or in any navigation areas of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Maritime and Terrestrial Park, you will be fined 6,000 euros, or possibly more, depending on the offence and location.
To request permission to anchor at any of the islands that form part of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Maritime and Terrestrial Park, simply send an email to [email protected] at least seven days before your departure date, stating the island, the day or days you wish to anchor and whether you will be spending the night at any of them. It is also compulsory to send us the details of the passengers who will be on board with you (we will send you a document to fill in). This permit includes entry to the islands for each person, as well as permission to anchor the boat, so there is no need to get another permit to go down to the islands.
No, under no circumstances can you anchor at the Islands of the National Maritime Terrestrial Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia without prior authorisation. It is necessary to obtain an anchoring permit from our office. This permit will grant you access to the islands and you will not need to apply for any other permits from the Xunta. Simply inform us of the specific day or night and the island where you wish to anchor.
The boats are equipped with the necessary safety equipment for the zones they are permitted to be in, as stated in the “Permiso de Navegación de la Capitanía Marítima”.
Before leaving, make sure to check the permitted navigation zone for the boat you will be hiring. Sailing outside the boat´s authorized navigation zone may result in a fine being directly charged to the person renting the boat. Sailway is not responsible for any misuse of the boat by the client. Please be aware of all safety guidelines and regulations while using the boat.
We recommend taking a good sized sports bag, rather than a suitcase with wheels. As boat cabins are quite small, the luggage bag should be easy to stow once empty.
We recommend that you take comfortable clothes, a jumper, a warm jacket and a waterproof coat. Depending on the time of year, swimming costume, beach towel and some clothes for going out to dinner at a marina. Don´t forget sun cream and a hat, as it is incredibly easy to get burnt when on the water.
It is also very important to wear suitable footwear, such as sports shoes with light soles (flip-flops or heels are not suitable for sailing). We recommend that you always walk, not run, while on the deck in order to avoid accidents or injuries. In addition to your luggage and provisions, you will need to bring a sleeping bag if you have not hired sheets and duvets.
Remember to take a toiletry bag, bath towel and flip-flops for going to the changing rooms at the docking ports to freshen up.
Don´t forget you can enjoy leisure time on board, so bring some games, or a book to read in peace and quiet while you take in the spectacular surroundings!
No, the cost of mooring at the base port at the Real Club Náutico de Vigo is included in the rental price, but if you wish, you can spend the night in other ports, although the mooring charge is not included. Alternatively, you can even sleep at anchor in safe places, such as beaches or coves. Spending the night in a quiet, secluded are is a magnificent experience and free of charge.
It depends on the rented boat´s approval rating. Each boat is approved for a specific number of passengers. When you make the reservation you must advise us of the number of passengers there are going to be so that we can offer you the best recommendations for your group.
Legally you could, but it is not advisable and potentially very dangerous. Skippering a boat is a big responsibility and at sea you can experience sudden, drastic weather changes that put your safety at risk. We highly recommend that you make some trips with a skipper to gain experience so you can safely make future trips without a skipper.
Yes, of course! Please keep in mind that the skipper is the one who knows the area and has the meteorological information to decide whether to make any last-minute changes. The skipper´s decision is final as the safety of all the people on board, as well as not damaging the boat, are of the utmost importance.
Yes. We offer the possibility of hiring a professional skipper.
There are additional charges for the moorings in other ports, as well as the fuel used and any food and drink that you order though us. If you hire a skipper, in addition to the cost of the skipper, the group is also responsible for the skipper´s meals. There is also the obligatory final cleaning and any other extra service that you contract with us.
Yes, mooring is included in the price during your charter period. The base port is the Real Club Náutico de Vigo.
The boat will be delivered to you with a full tank of fuel and it is your responsibility to return it to us in the same condition (unless otherwise stated on the rental contract).
It is important that you plan ahead and allow enough time to refuel before the agreed check out time. Upon check out, you must provide our team member with a receipt for the fuel.
Please note that failure to return the boat with a full tank of fuel will result in a penalty of €50 plus the cost of refilling the tank, which will be deducted from your deposit.
There are two petrol stations near our base port. The Real Club Náutico de Vigo has a Repsol refueling station located at the mouth of the
harbour. Upon arrival, please inform the staff at the marina on VHF channel 09 so that they can assist you. The refueling station is open
from 09:00 to 20:00. Alternatively, the Dávila Sport Marina, a neighbouring port, also has a refueling station that is open 24 hours a day.
Yes, the boat you charter will be clean on delivery.
Absolutely! Our team at Sailway is happy to assist with your shopping needs. Simply email your list to the reservationsdepartment at least two days before your departure date. We will take care of purchasing the items and have them waiting on board for your arrival. Please note that this service incurs a 20% surcharge on the total purchase invoice.
However, there are several options available for obtaining food during your trip. You can place an order with a local
supermarket online or by phone and have your groceries delivered directly to the ship. Alternatively, you can bring your
own groceries or hire a caterer.
If your chartered boat has a galley with a 3kg gas cylinder, kitchenware, crockery and cutlery will be provided for the number of authorised passengers. There will also be a small cleaning kit consisting of: 1 cloth, 1 kitchen roll, 1 scouring pad, 1 biodegradable dishcloth, 1 bottle of cleaning spray, 3 rubbish bags for organic waste, glass, and small plastic items, 2 rolls of toilet paper, 1 tablecloth, 1 packet of matches and 1 dustpan and brush.
If you have hired a boat and a skipper, he or she will meet you at the designated meeting point, welcome you, provide you with the contract to sign, show you around the boat, and give you a brief explanation of safety procedures.
To complete the check-out process, the client must leave the boat moored in its designated berth and ensure that all luggage and personal belongings have been removed. Once the boat has been completely emptied, it will be inspected by Sailway staff using the same protocol as the check-in process. If there is no damage caused by misuse and the inventory is complete and accurate, the security deposit will be refunded according to the charter contract.
However, if there has been an accident during the charter period, the boat has been damaged, or items are missing from the inventory, the deposit will be withheld until the total cost is determined. The client will only be held liable for a maximum of €2,500. In the event that the boat is not returned by the designated deadline of 20:00, the client will be subject to penalties outlined in the contract and the corresponding amount will be deducted from the deposit.
Your boat can be available for check-in starting at 10:00 on the day your charter begins. However, please note that the specific time must be arranged with the booking office in advance so that we can coordinate the delivery of your boat with the base manager. The latest possible check-out time is 20:00 on the last day of your charter. You can confirm the exact time with the base manager during check-in.
It is essential to arrive at the agreed time, otherwise you will have to wait for the base manager to finish attending to other customers. We agree on fixed check-in and check-out times, and, if you are late, you will have to wait your turn.
The skipper and the renter, as stated on the contract, are required to accompany the base manager for a safety check on board the boat where we will complete a check list to ensure that everything is in working order. This check is also to jointly assess the condition of the boat. This process typically takes 45-60 minutes. Once the checks are completed, the renter must sign a certificate of compliance, confirming that the boat is in good condition. This signifies that the boat is now the responsibility of the renter. We recommend that during the check-in process, the crew waits on the pontoon, outside the boat, to avoid interfering with the handover. Please note that luggage can only be brought on board after the check-in is completed.
The base manager will hand the boat over to you once you have signed the rental contract and paid the deposit. The meeting point for the delivery of the boat and check in is at the access gate to pontoons No. 2 in the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. The entrance is located in the pontoon area, between the Real Club Náutico de Vigo swimming pool building and the A Laxe shopping centre. There, you will find a gate labelled with the Sailway logo where our base staff will meet you at the designated time that was agreed upon in the rental contract.
The deposit will be refunded when the rental contract ends and the condition of the boat has been evaluated by Sailway staff. It may be necessary to retain the deposit for a maximum of 7 days after the return of the boat.
The deposit is in case of any damage to the boat during your rental period, unless due to a third party, in which case an accident report must be submitted.
No. The deposit is part of the rental contract and must be paid in advance. No refunds or reimbursement of the rental are available in this circumstance.
To sign the rental contract and pay the deposit, please meet with the base manager at the designated meeting point (gate for pontoon Nº2) at the agreed upon time. Payment can be made using a VISA credit card. Please note that we are unable to accept AMEX or cash payments.
Once the contract has been signed and the deposit has been paid, we will accompany you to the boat to complete the handover process and inspect the boat´s condition together.
You can go to the car park at the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, where our fleet is moored and the meeting point to deliver the boat is located. Luggage can be unloaded here and a member of the crew will provide a trolley to take all your luggage to the boat. You can park the car there for the duration of your rental period (for a fee) or use one of the options recommended above.
There are several private car parks in the area. For convenience, we recommend parking in the A Laxe Shopping Centre car park or in the Real Club Náutico de Vigo car park (both offer the first hour free of charge). For long-term parking, we have an agreement with a car park located just five minutes walk away. Simply ask us and we will make the reservation on your behalf.
Another option is to park in the white areas (free, on-street parking) of Beiramar street or in the Berbés, a ten-minute walk away.
The designated meeting point for collecting your boat is at pontoon access gate No. 2, located between the Real Club Náutico de Vigo swimming pool building and the A Laxe shopping centre. Look for the Sailway logo at the gate where our base staff will be waiting for you at the agreed upon time.
Please note that there is no need to visit the commercial office; simply proceed directly to the meeting point at the designated access door.
Up to 30 days before departure, a 30% penalty will be charged. Fewer than 30 days prior to departure will result in 100% of the total rental amount being charged. Sailway reserves the right to cancel a charter due to adverse weather conditions or force majeure.

2) Once availability is confirmed, a 30% deposit is required to secure your booking. Alternatively, you can choose to pay the total cost in one easy payment, which includes the standard package and any additional extras you have requested. If your check-in date is less than 7 days away, please send us proof of payment to [email protected].
3)If you are hiring a boat without a skipper, we kindly request that you provide us with your skipper´s details at the time of payment. Please send an email to [email protected] with a scanned copy of their DNI (or passport or driver´s license) and Nautical License.
Yes, it is possible to hire a boat without a professional skipper, provided you hold an approved nautical qualification.
However, you must provide the booking office with the skipper´s details beforehand, unless otherwise specified. Please
